Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Raleigh, NC, USA

 

About the role: 

Through novel new designs for dielectric cooling systems, heatsinks and coldplates, keep Iceotope at the forefront of liquid cooling technology. Work in close collaboration with a multi-discipline engineering team in all aspects of the design process, including: initial concepts, detailed 3D CAD, engineering and assembly drawings, prototype validation and testing, to ensure that all project deliverables and engineering requirements are met.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Close collaboration with multi-disciplinary project engineering team

  • Characterization of structural performance for components and systems to house electronics and provide cooling solutions

    • Units for the containment, direction and circulation of fluid

    • Units to enable the liquid cooling of hot swappable modular items, such as power supplies, pumps or disk drives

    • Chassis and rack design

  • Produce 3D assembly models

  • Production of engineering drawings, BoM and revision management and manufacturing data.

  • Documentation and presentation to support and communicate your findings and recommendations

  • Validation of design concepts

  • Prototype building and testing and design validation

     

Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD)
  • Experience working as part of a project team
  • Construction and management of Bill of Materials (BoM)
  • Broad manufacturing knowledge of different materials and processes
  • Design validation and analysis
  • DFMEA experience
  • Suitable selection of materials to successfully implement product designs
  • Familiar with design and development process, concept to finished product
  • Design for manufacture (DFM)

 

Desirable skills

  • Direct OEM server design experience
  • FEA linear and nonlinear studies
  • FEA of multi part assemblies including gaskets, seals, fixing torque, springs etc
  • Analyze mechanical integrity, deflection at interfaces and factor of safety
  • Suitable selection and evaluation of materials to successfully implement products
  • Analyze mechanical integrity, deflection at interfaces and factor of safety
  • Product data management (PDM)
  • Engineering change management
  • Rendering cad images for marketing, using photo view 360 or equivalent
